Tour description

.......................
IMPORTANT please read this before booking this tour.

Update: It's rainy season so remember to bring a waterproof jacket or umbrella. Some of the places may not be available due to rain, but we can make some changes to the itinerary if necessary.

The free tours do not have a fixed price , I do not receive any kind of payment from the municipality or the Bolivian government.
Each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount he deems appropriate (this usually varies from 10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).

I ONLY DO SMALL GROUPS, I'm not trying to reach the most people, but the right kind of people. Groups start from one to five and up to eight - upon request - people.
I firmly believe in quality services, and for this reason, I also require that people who book this tour are interested in learning something. Consider other options if you are too tired to listen or disinterested.

The history of Bolivia walking through the center of Sucre with a certified guide.

Hey, thanks for scrolling all the way down here! The thing is, I love history. I was born in this city and spent most of my life here. The city of Sucre is the capital of Bolivia and knowing how this region became an independent country is something every single tourist should know.
There are different versions you might hear but, unfortunately, due to censorship, most Bolivians also ignore the real facts behind the founding of this country. I have studied this problem for a long time: what happened here before the arrival of the Spaniards? And what about colonial times and the early republican era?? And how are things going now?? I have some very interesting answers.

I also tend to focus on some dark issues and events that have marked Bolivian society, if you want to ask a Bolivian friend something, even if controversial, feel free to ask anything during this tour. We'll have our laughs too, since I want you to have fun too.

Come with me and discover more about my country.

The tour takes place in the historic center of Sucre and visits:

  • Square 25 May
  • The central market
  • Bolivar Park
  • Récoleta point of view

And more along the way.

Uku Pachay contacted me and said “…my tour starts at 9,30. It would be impossible fpr ypu to attend since you alsp booked the 9 am tour. I have to cancel ypur booking…” and then cancelled my place. I contacted Uku Pachay to inform them they were incorrect. I was not also booked on their 9:00 tour and they did not answer. I called them the next day and asked them to in-cancel and put me back on the tour. It was then that he informed me there was no tour that day as I was the only one who’d booked. The basically the reason given for cancelling was a lie, they cancelled because they did not have enough attendees. Later he sent me a message asking where I was and that he was in the park ready for the 2:30 tour. I was never booked on a 2:30 tour with them! Finally they informed me the 18:30 tour would not be going ahead as it was only me then at 18:30 asked why I was not at the meeting point. They seem very disorganised and either don’t turn up or cancel at the last minute. They really messed me around..

As described the tour dives into the ugly history of Bolivia. It was good and as he said, important to know/learn but very heavy and negative for the first hour. Afterwards though at the central market and beyond there was enough fun and positivity to balance it out.

Excellent tour to get acquainted with Sucre and Bolivia! The route consists of various stops that provides a better understanding of Bolivia's background. Alvaro is very passionate about history. Sometimes he makes very controversial statements that I would debate, but he manages to explain himself. Overall, highly recommended tour.
