Amsterdam Highlights Tour, Art History with a Local Guide
Hello, my name is Janet. I am an American woman who has been living in Amsterdam for the last 4 years. I am a writer and an artist with a BA in art history. I love meeting new people and besides having an (obvious) interest in art and history, I also love food (talking about it, eating it, etc.) and telling a good story. I'd love to share everything I've learned about the Dutch people, their food, their art and their history with you.
Tour description
Come with me on a walking tour that starts at
-
Dam Square, the heart of the city.
- Royal Palace
- New Church
- The WW2 monument.
-
Then on to the Beigenhof, a medieval cloister
- Spui Square,(where you find the book markets and the University of Amsterdam) .
- Flower Market
- History of the Canals
- Canal District History and Cool Facts
- Medieval City Gates, Munt Tower.
- The Wag (Weigh Station)
We will meet by the WW2 Monument in Dam Square (an obelisk),
My aim is to entertain! Why are the Canals named Prince, King and Mister?
We'll visit the Flower Market, and learn how Tulipmania took over Holland in the 17th century.
We will and end our tour at Dam Square, where we started.
Join me for a walking trip through the center of this crescent-shaped city and soak up the atmosphere of Amsterdam.
Please be informed that if there are less than 2 people signed up for the tour, the tour will not take place.
