Saigon was the former capital of South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. There is a number of historic buildings relevant to the War sites. As a person who was born and bred in this lively city, I would like to take and share with you around Saigon.
We are going to start at the Opera house and stroll walk along to Nguyenhue street where the Colonial City hall located. Afterwards, following the route to walk straight on the boulevard for a look at Saigon "now and then".
On the way to Reunification palace, We may have a chance to look and compare between French-Indochine artchitectural and modernism buildings like HCMC museum and Supreme court. It was a recall memory to have a short break in front of the Independence palace where one of last photo about Vietnam war taken on 30 Apr - 1975.
Walk through the central park to feel the vibe of city, We then proceed to the complex of Notredame cathedral and Central Post Office. They are truly the iconic symbols of Saigon that maintain the magnificent design plus with history. Strolling on the Dongkhoi street where number of modern and old shop houses located, You will be stunning by how fast the city has grown. There is a plus to see and learn about the landing zone where the photo of the last evacuation been taken back to April 1975.
Finish the walk by returning to Opera house, it is a good time for a coffee break or a brunch before you could obviously go on with your plans.
