Hello, I'm Alex. I have 20 years of experience in the tourism sector and I am a lover of Ancient, Medieval, and Modern History. On the free walking tour of Sagunto, we will review more than 20 centuries of history, religion, and customs. You will have the opportunity to visit places that existed before the year 0, where ancient streets, such as "Los Escipiones", "Circo", or "Muralla", still maintain their original names. Sagunto is a fabulous place, and you will not leave indifferent, as it is a visit that begins at 49 meters above sea level and reaches 170 meters (depending on the desired visit inside the castle) with views of 30 nautical miles of the Mediterranean Sea, weather permitting, which is very unusual for a 2-hour city tour. The ethnographic complexity of the city is also notable, where different cultures have coexisted, presenting a varied architecture in the different areas we will visit. The city has been well connected for over 2,000 years, so we hope you'll return to its monuments, beaches, and gastronomy. I'll recommend additional important things to do in the surrounding area and suggest places to try Mediterranean, Sephardic, or Arabic dishes, as well as interesting facts about the city. Welcome to the ancient city of Arse, and thank you in advance for your choice.

Tour description

Sagunto has mysteries yet to be revealed after 2,500 years of History and "The Path of the Thieves" is one of them (SL-CV42 - Senda Ibera) that surrounds the exterior of the Sagunto castle , full of Edetano vestiges , with Carthaginian and Roman performances on the cyclopean structures of ancient "Arse" founded more than 25 centuries ago.
We will visit the place chosen by Hannibal to take the Saguntine Acropolis where he was even wounded by an Iberian falcata, the only wound he received in the campaign, a place that, not by chance, was also chosen by the Napoleonic troops centuries later under the command of General Suchet to take the city. , knowledgeable of the Carthaginian's exploits.
We will explain the surrounding vegetation and its use in defense, gastronomy and as well as defense of the place with vestiges of human occupation since the 5th century BC.
We will begin the tour through the beautiful theater of Sagunto and after visiting hypogeums and the Jewish cemetery, we will take an interesting semicircular detour around such an important castle (+/-1 hour depending on the group), where the beauty of the views of the Mediterranean and the Sierras Calderona and Espadán are guaranteed.
