Belém Tour: Discovering Lisbon's Iconic Neighborhood
Tour description
How did a small nation like Portugal become the world’s first global empire? What’s the story behind the delicious pastel de Belém? Where is Vasco da Gama buried?
If you are curious to find out the answers to these questions, you can't help but join my free walking tour of Belém, the place from which Portuguese navigators set out to find new sea routes.
We will start by talking about the importance of the military Afonso de Albuquerque, we will stop to taste the real and unique pastel de Belém, we will admire the imposing Jeronimos Monastery and we will enter inside the church of Santa Maria. We will then continue towards the Monument to the Discoveries with the Compass Rose and then finish after a pleasant walk along the ocean shore at the Belém Tower, one of the symbols of Lisbon and one of the most famous places in the city.
Don't miss the opportunity to take this dive into the past with me among anecdotes, legends and curiosities.
