Hello, I am Thyl (pronounced “Teel”). I moved to the town of Silves 5 years ago and love it! I am an explorer and a painter, as well as a nature and history enthusiast. It is a joy to share with others the places and landscapes that I find interesting and to transmit some local knowledge.
A few years ago I started guiding (and driving) tours with small groups in the local countryside (Jeep Safaris in the hills, Boat Cruises on the river and Walking Tours). The main interest was nature but I always hoped one day to also focus on the culture of the place where I live.
At home, my bookcase is full of history books and now, after the necessary research, I am pleased to present, in a fun and friendly way, the amazing town where I live.
The Guru walking tour in Silves was a big surprise. Silves is quite small, but the guide knew many historical facts and fun other comments worthwihle mentioning. Big recommendation for everybody visiting Silves!

Very pleasant guide. We learned a lot and we're glad that we did the tour rather than venturing out on our own.
Thyl is so very knowledgeable of Silves and the history of the area. His presentation was interesting and fun. I took many pictures throughout the experience. We followed his recommendation and had a lovely meal at Sergredo dos Mouros. Excellent Portuguese tapas platter. Superb service from personable staff/owners. Thank you.
