Thomas - Tour Guide in Hiroshima

Thomas moved to Hiroshima eight years ago after falling in love with both the city and the woman who would become his wife. They first met in a 7-Eleven, where she won a loaf of bread in a small lottery. She didn’t need it, so she gave it to him, and from that simple moment their story began. They later married in a bakery on Hiroshima’s main street, a place they still visit together because it holds a special place in their hearts.

In his spare time, Thomas enjoys studying for different qualifications. He has passed the Japanese national cooking exam and is now preparing for the Japanese sake certification while working toward becoming a nationally licensed guide. As a Hiroshima tourism ambassador, he is honored to share the city’s complex history and the charm of the place he is proud to call home.

This was simply the best guided tour I have ever had. Thomas was incredibly well informed, funny and could answer every question we had. In addition he gave us a run-down of the history of feudal Japan, which was as entertaining as it was informative. The food was great, but the stories he told were absolutely the highlight of the tour. He even stayed longer to answer all our questions. Such an amazing guide!

Response from Thomas
Thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you enjoyed the tour, the stories, and the food. I hope the taiyaki afterwards hit the spot! Wishing you safe travels and hope to see you back in Hiroshima someday!

Thomas weiss sehr viel über Essen, dessen Zubereitung, teilt dies gerne mit und ist ebenfalls ein guter Zuhörer. Zudem teilt er auch sein Kulturwissen mit dem Gast. Er kennt sich gut aus😀.

Response from Thomas
Thank you very much for your kind words, Simi. I’m really glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour. It was a pleasure sharing food and local culture with you. I hope you had a great time in Matsue, and I hope the maple leaf shaped cakes (momiji manju) taste great. Wishing you a wonderful rest of your trip in Japan!
