Free walking tours in Hangzhou

Hai Chuan was very friendly and shared much local insights to how the people here lives and how he grew up in Hangzhou. On the way we also did an impromptu visit to Lang Lang Music Museum as the weather was hot! Hai Chuan accommodated to our speed as we were travelling with a toddler.

I really enjoyed the tour with Cheryl. She is very kind, informative, patient and friendly. I would recommend the tour to anyone who wants to know more about local food and Chinese medicine (i even got a free diagnosis from a Chinese medicine doctor!!).

100% recommended, it was not only a food tour but also historical explanations about the city and a very interesting introduction to Traditional Chinese Medicine! Cheryl was very helpful, entertaining and informative, I really enjoyed having this tour with her!

Excellent tour. Cheryl is a great guide and incredibly knowledgeable about local food and traditional Chinese medicine. The food at all the stops was amazing and not something I would have ever found on my own. Cheryl also recommended some great places for lunch/dinner and helped me get the tea I was looking for.

Fantastic tour - a must do in Hangzhou! 🙌 Cheryl speaks perfect English and is an amazing host. We tried food and drinks we would never have been brave enough to order and they were all delicious. Cheryl is a real foodie and knows a lot about the culinary history of Hangzhou and wider China. Tutu spricht sehr gutes Englisch. Wir hatten mit ihr einen super schönen und professionellen Walk. Haben viel über den Tempel, die Tee Herkunft und Anbau und den Park mit den Lotusblumen erfahren. Sie kann sehr gut erzählen, so dass man ihr sehr gerne zuhört. Dankeschön

I absolutely recommend this tour! Joining Cheryl on her Local Street Food Walk is a truly wonderful experience. She shares fascinating insights about the city, its dishes, architecture, and the stories behind them. One of the highlights is the visit to the Hu Qing Yu Tang Chinese Medicine Museum, offering a unique glimpse into both the culture and history of the city. The food stops are incredible. We tried several dishes at Fang Chun Jian Jiao Shao Mai, which were absolutely delicious. Every place Cheryl takes you to offers a great impression of this beautiful city. On top of all that, Cheryl herself is super friendly, and fun to be around, making the tour even more enjoyable. I couldn’t recommend it more!

Das war eine sehr authentische und besondere Tour. Zhou war absolut flexibel, ist total auf unsere Wünsche eingegangen und hat nicht nur Historisches erzählt sondern auch viel von dem Leben heute in Hangzhou berichtet und praktische Tipps weitergegeben. Wir bekamen auch viele Tipps für weitere lohnenswerte Ziele rund um den Westlake und einen Geheimtipp für Super Dumplings. Man merkt dass Zhou viel Spaß hat Leute zu treffen und sein Wissen zu teilen. Absolut empfehlenswert!

Zhu was a great guide! He has so much energy and was incredibly enthusiastic about Hangzhou. I love how he wanted to make sure he could answer all my questions, not just about the tour, but about Hangzhou/ China in general as well. He even Googled some extra information for me. I feel like l learned a lot! Thanks so much for sweating around the city with me!

A very recomendable walk, beatiful scenery and enthusiastic guide giving interesting insight into the Canal history and the trepid changes between traditional and modern China.

Wango was a really nice guide, it was very easy to talk to her and have an interesting conversation. She shows us a local spot at a mountain, where you have a great view over the West Lake.

Fantastic tour! Wango was very friendly and takes you on a unique hiking trial to the peak to see the West Lake. Although a bit tiring, you can rest along the way and the view is worth the effort. After hiking, Wango takes you for a walk along the West Lake, a great spot to take pictures. Wango also gave suggestions on what to do after the tour. Overall, I recommend doing this activity!

Tutu changes the Tour based on the wishes of another participant, so can't rate the "real" tour. Our tour was a whole day and includes beautiful places like a tea plant and the Hefang Street. Tutu gives us some information and it was easy to talk to her and ask questions.

Zhu has been a fantastic guide who became a friend. He tailored his entire trip to us. We loved everything from learning about the Grand Canal to seeing the authentic life at a nearby food market and community buildings. Zhu was so generous. He answered all of our questions with enthusiasm. He was so kind to even help us with an Alipay issue. We finished the tour feeling grateful, fulfilled, and full of energy to keep coming back to see Hangzhou. This was the best tour we could have ever hoped for, and we recommend Zhu as a guide to everyone visiting Hangzhou. His English and interpersonal skills are amazing, and his positive energy shines through

Hai Chuan is an amazing host, exceeds my expectation by leaps and bounds. This young man is very enthusiastic about sharing his city with us. He speaks very good English having lived overseas for 7 years. He shares the history as we walk and also point out great vantage point to talk pictures. Zhu was great. He took us for interesting spots alongside the canal while explaining the history. We like that he took us to the museum as well to visualize the history as well. We'll recommend!!

Di Guru walk ne abbiamo fatti tanti, ma una guida così simpatica e disponibile è stata tutt’altra esperienza! Fin dal primo momento ci siamo sentiti coccolati e immersi nella vita locale.
