Free walking tours in Santa Ana - El Salvador

We enjoyed our tour with Hector! Like many have stated, this is not a typical walking tour and it definitely lacks “professionalism” - as stated by Hector himself. I generally like more structured approaches but even I could ultimately have a lot of fun listening to Hectors stories, sampling awesome food at the market and socialising with others. I will say that if this is the only walking tour you plan to do in El Salvador, you may want to choose something with more structure and hard facts. If you already had that and are a bit flexible, let Hector take you on this little adventure! Our tour had very little info on Santa Ana and ES and mostly revolved around personal experiences. Some of them maybe a bit too bloody. The food tour was honestly amazing - so many nice things we would not have tried otherwise. Q&A at the cafe was the main part of the tour for us - we could have a nice conversation with Hector and he’s happy to share.

This was the best walking tour we have done in our trip of Central and South America. Fatima was knowledgeable, funny and engaging - she answered all of our questions candidly and expertly, she understands a lot about the history of El Salvador and Santa Ana and she made the group feel welcome and at ease. My partner and I loved this walking tour, we could have stayed for longer!

I had such a special day with Fatima, what an inspiring woman. I felt her passion for El Salvador and she made us feel part of the community. We visited markets, tried new foods, visited churches and importantly learnt about the harrowing history of El Salvador. What a special introduction to country! Highly recommended

Amazing! Juan Pablo was so kind, very knowledgeable, let us go at our own pace and allowed us to get back in time for my friend’s pupusa class. I had started getting sick that morning so he took me to the store after the hike to get tissues and medicine, then dropped me back off at my accommodations. So kind, 10/10 hike too!

Hector offers one of the best tours I’ve been on - he’s personable, speaks to his own experience and country history, and brought us to places I wouldn’t have gone to on my own. Highly recommend!

Juan is a friendly and enthusiastic man from Santa Ana. He can tell you a lot about Santa Ana and takes you to a beautiful viewpoint over the city

Fátima was lovely and so informative about Santa Ana on the tour. She took us to local markets and coffee shops where we could try food and drink and she shared personal stories which shed light on the very recent history of the country and were very eye opening. Well worth doing this tour whilst in the city. Thank you Fatima!

Fatima is like your bestfriend walking you around its town and sharing some personal stories with you (that are relevant to the history of the country). You learn a lot, visit a lot. The same night, we ended up about 30 backpackers at a football match all because Fatima mentioned it to our group and we spread the info! Highly recommend!

We really enjoyed the tour with oskar. His english is outstanding and he knows the city very well. You could tell that he is passionate about it.

It was a perfect tour in Santa Ana! Not really what I expected, as we didn’t see a lot of different places but Fatima was super open minded answered all shared a lot of information about her culture and the change in the country in recent times. She showed us the local market, a cafe, a souvenir store where we played a local game and of course the big church in the central and a few other places on the way. I would definitely recommend doing the tour with Fatima
