Great tour with a truly local guide. All the questions you had, or even didn't know you had, will be answered on this very personal and entertaining walk around the town. If you are new to the country, or have only viewed it as a tourist, you must take this tour for an experience that will stay with you long after the sunburn has vanished.

Fatima was super knowledgeable and kind. She shared stories of her own life and life in El Salvador before things changed. She took us to several sites and helped us find delicious street food! She was helpful and fun and super flexible!

Best tour we’ve done in Central and South America. Hector is so friendly, knowledgeable and open. We were taken through the market to try an array of new and traditional foods and drinks. I can’t recommend this enough if you want a slice of authentic El Salvador!

3 of us did this walking tour with Hector. It was fantastic, he is very flexible and when we met asked us what we wanted. He did mix of historical context, his experience and life in El Salvador, more recent events and the gangs. A real highlight was guiding us through the market to try a range of foods and drinks. He’s fun, engaging and easy to get on with! Highly recommend. The start location was near the pin by the light Green building on parque Libertad

We absolutely loved our tour with Fátima. She covered everything from the history of El Salvador, key landmarks and sites in Santa Ana as well as enjoying a coffee stop, the local market and a fruit tasting. Fátima was very generous in sharing her own personal stories with us about her life in El Salvador from before and now. This was incredibly insightful and moving and we greatly appreciated hearing about this. Would highly recommend Fátima to other visitors in Santa Ana.

Hector’s tour was incredible! As it was just the two of us he asked us what we wanted to do to tailor the tour to us - we went to the top of the cathedral, tasted fruits at the market and asked lots of questions about the history of El Salvador and Hector was very open about his childhood experiences. We have learnt so much about what local life is like that we wouldn’t have learnt online! Hector’s tour is a must do in Santa Ana!

I had the unique opportunity to meet hector and have a 1-1 tour today, I feel so lucky to have met him and for him to have shown me his city. I felt very safe as a solo female traveller, and was able to ask him so many questions! We walked the city and explored more local areas, seeing how people live and the day-to-day atmosphere of Santa Ana. Fatima's tour was one of a kind. It was a perfect blend of humor and entertainment mixed with political history and the realities of this country. She does a very good job diving into the countries' tumultuous criminal gangster past into what the current president bukele represents for its present and hopeful future. I highly recommend her tour, we also had a great time tasting ice cream, coffee, chica and street fruits. We had the chance to also visit the rooftop of the cathedral! I learned so much from her tour and look forward now to visiting all of el salvador with my new appreciation for all the knowledge she provided.

I have done over 20 walking tours and I can honestly say this was the BEST one I have ever done. The tour is very based on the recent history of El Salvador aswell as visit g and trying so many different foods at the market. Hector was really friendly and very open about his story and all the information he told us. This is the number one thing I would recommend to people visiting El Salvador.

Fatima was a wonderful guide. She was flexible with scheduling, even at the last minute. She arranged for us to see the view from the top of the cathedral which was beautiful. We tried foods and drinks that we would not have known about without her advice or knowledge of where to find them. I had a wonderful experience at the tour with Castor. He grew up in the city and provided a truly honest image of the city and it's history. He therefore knows the best local places to get a snack, ice cream, dive into the culture or go for a game of pool :p. This is really not your average walking tour, pointing out the pretty buildings. It's a tour to really understand the historical context in a way that ChatGPT can absolutely not make up for you. Long story short: book this tour, bring your walking shoes and your genuine interest and ofcourse; respect the locals ;).

Definitely a very different tour from what we are used to. Nelson is a very cool, chill and amicable guy with lots of local knowledge... He showed us the neighborhood that he grew up in and we had a very intimate and open talk about all the stuff that happened here in El Salvador in the last 20 years. We even ended up going to a bar together and playing pool (with the local rules of course) 😉 If you are looking for something different and unique, Nelson is your guy!
