Tour description

Combine the visit to the places of the old town that you cannot miss with the experience of the archaeologist. With this tour, anyone interested can know what the underground and city buildings hide. Throughout the tour (2 km), we will indicate hidden areas, charming places, anecdotes and curiosities of the history and archeology of Cordoba. We will begin the visit by entering the historic center through the Puerta de Almodóvar. We will pass along the Jewish street, a true nucleus of the Jewish presence in the ancient city, where we will pass by Andalusian houses and stop at the beautiful Synagogue, a World Heritage Site. Crossing through the medieval streets, our next stop will be the Chapel of San Bartolomé, a jewel of Mudejar art, and the current faculty of philosophy and letters, which occupies an interesting 18th-century hospital. From here it will be very close to the Mosque-Cathedral, which we will surround carefully, unraveling the enormous complexity of its decoration, its archaeological interventions and its history, because it is a building that has been standing for 1400 years! Towards the Guadalquivir River, whose vision from this area is not only iconic but also beautiful, we will walk to the triumph of San Rafael and the Roman Bridge. Next, we will talk about the Old Caliphate Alcazar (today Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos). We will circulate quickly through the beginning of the San Basilio neighborhood, emblematic for its Cordovan patios, passing through royal stables, to reach the caliph baths, which are nearby and that were formerly part of the residence of the caliphs. From this part, we will have a good view of several canvases of the city wall, which we will continue until we return to the starting point, a few meters away. We hope you enjoy it!
