Hello! My name is Benito. I am a professor of History at the University of Havana. Walking through the corners of Old Havana is my passion and the History of Cuba is the best way to understand the current life of Cubans. I would love to talk about the society, politics and economics with you, we follow the policy that the only way to understand us is knowing our roots.
We will meet at La Punta Castle, where we will enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Havana Bay and the lighthouse. From here, we will take a taxi across the bay, which will drop us off at the lighthouse. As we walk the beautiful cliffs, I will share a bit of Cuba's history. We'll pass by the exterior of La Cabaña, an imposing 18th-century fortress which now houses an armaments museum and a museum honoring Che Guevara. We will continue on to the trail leading up the hill to the Christ of Havana statue. At the top, you'll enjoy the views and learn more about the history of the monument. When we're ready to leave, I will challenge you to take the 100 stairs down to Casablanca. We will then take the ferry from there back to the city.
