Tour description

One of the best tours you can get outside of Antigua Guatemala. Do you want to do something different outside of Antigua? This is the activity you should take.
The meeting point will be Plaza la Merced, where the pilgrim fountain is located.
We will visit the Antigua market and the bus station (Chicken Buses) their colorful designs and accessories that make them attractive to the eyes of the visitor. We will take a bus and we will transport ourselves to San Antonio Aguascalientes, a beautiful Mayan town where the population is 90% of Kakchiquel origin, women dedicating themselves to weaving and men to agriculture, corn and coffee. Then we take the bus back and stop at the first Capital of Guatemala Ciudad Vieja, destroyed by the Agua volcano in 1541. The first Christian cathedral was built here in 1534 and the foundation of this city is on November 11, 1527 much more older than Antigua Guatemala itself. Then we will take another bus in Ciudad Vieja and return to Antigua Guatemala. A 3 hour tour and you will have a different activity. You will know:
1. The daily life, traditions and customs of a Mayan population.
2. Weaving techniques on the waist loom and brocade.
3. Opportunity to acquire authentically handmade textiles and the best prices without resale.
4. The history of the flooding of the water volcano and vestiges that commemorate that catastrophe.
5 The first capital of Guatemala

Nos tocó Galileo, una persona muy cordial y buen acompañante. Sin embargo, esperábamos un poco más de historias de los lugares que visitamos.

This tour was a total disappointment, and I would not recommend it. I have taken numerous similar tours, and this one just did not deliver. The itinerary sounded interesting, but the guide did not provide much information and never seemed to be interested in what he was doing. I cancelled my second tour in the afternoon based on this experience. You can do much, much better by yourself.

Totalmente recomendado!

Really enjoyed the tour, it was only me since other participants cancelled. The guide Galileo knew a lot, was professional and i could ask whatever. 100% recommended.

Lovely outing. We did/saw so much in three hours but didn’t feel rushed. Everything was so interesting from the Antigua market, chicken bus depot, the bus ride with locals, lovely mountain vista. the walk down a hill into the San Antonio town center, the town square of the first capital Ciudad Vieja with school children running around. Really saw how local people live. Galileo gave interesting information.
