Hello there, My name is David, I am from Madrid and I am a certified tour guide. I usually work for a company escorting groups around Europe and Asia, but due to the current situation, I decided to start working at home. I am not a fan of trite routes; Madrid is a big city and is full of history, interesting facts and buildings outside the city centre, that sometimes time has vanished but deserve to be rediscovered again.
A visit around a small area of El Paseo de la Castellana and its surroundings.
What is now La Castellana has always been an important artery of the city, which little by little gained more significance as the city grew, and with it, stories, celebrities, curiosities, monuments, buildings... some of which have been forgotten as time goes by or are unknown even to many locals.
During this route we will see, among others, the (considered by many) world's first floating building, the place where Marie Curie stayed during her visit to Madrid, the most beautiful embassy in the city or a bridge designed to be a piece of art.
Meeting point: Open in Google Maps
How to find me: Next to the Velázquez statue
