Tour description

It is a history and cultural experience:
Today, we are going to visit the town of  Uppsala, a  religious and learning center.
We are going to move at our own pace and linger longer around the attractions which attract your interest.
We stop  by :
1) Gamla  Uppsala, an old Viking settlement to visit the  Mounds, the medieval church, and  Open Air Museum.
2)
Carl  Linne museum, the  18th century  botanist.
3)Uppsala  Great  Cathedral, founded in 1300  and  is  the  largest in Scandinavia  and  burial  place  of  the Swedish King  Gustav Vasa,
4)Uppsala Old  University  Building: the university was founded  in 1500 and  half of  Sweden Nobel  Prize winners used  to  study here,
5)The Botanical Gardens:(Botaniska)
The Gardens were created by Carl Linne and used to teach his students. Nowadays, they are part of the University.
6)Uppsala  Castle (Uppsalaslott):
We end our tour in Uppsala Castle, dating back to the 16th century (in 1549) during the reign of Swedish King Gustav Vasa who intended it as a fortress.
