Tour description
During the Free Tour, discover the most important monuments of the old town of Munich. Learn about the origins of the city, admire the splendid heritage of the Bavarian kings, and visit the birthplace of the Nazi Movement.
Munich, located at the foot of the Alps, is one of the most important German cities. Our walking tour begins in front of the Karlstor at Karlsplatz , where you will learn about the origins of the city. After a pleasant walk we will pass by the emblematic Cathedral of Our Lady or Frauenkirche , learning about the legend of the Devil and his supposed visit to the church. Then we will arrive at the heart of Munich: Marienplatz (St. Mary's Square). We will admire the New Town Hall and hear the story of the famous Mariensäule (St. Mary's Column) and the Glockenspie l (carillon located in the Town Hall).
Later we move to the Italian-style square - Odeonsplatz , where we see the Feldherrnhalle (Tribute to the Field Marshals) and Theatinerkirche (Theatine Church). We discover the history of the failed coup of the Nazi movement of 1923 and its symbolic importance under the Third Reich. We then passed the Munich Residenz, the largest urban palace in all German cities, and the Bavarian State Opera.
The tour ends in front of the Hofbräuhaus , where you can experience regional cuisine, music, and taste delicious Bavarian beer.
