Free Tour of Buda Castle
Tour description
Buda Castle is one of Budapest 's most iconic landmarks. Dominating the Danube from the top of Buda Hill, it has witnessed the city's history for centuries. If you want to learn about its evolution over time, as well as the essential sites of this district of the Hungarian capital, accompanied by an official Spanish-speaking guide , join our free tour!
We will meet at the Castle Gardens Bazaar , from where we can ascend to enjoy one of the best views of Budapest.
The history of King Bela IV , General Eugene of Savoy and the monarch Matthias Corvinus will accompany us as we walk around the majestic Buda Castle , which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1987, along with the monumental and residential complex on the hill.
The palace now also houses the Budapest History Museum, the Széchenyi Library, and the Hungarian National Gallery.
Our next stop is in the administrative district of Buda. Here we find the Sándor Palace , the official residence of the President of Hungary. Right next door is the Carmelite Monastery , where the country's prime minister carries out some of his duties. Do you know the difference between the two positions?
Just cross the street to enter the residential area of the district, also known as the medieval city. Among its streets, we'll find places with much to tell, such as the Hospital de la Roca or the traditional Ruszwurm Pastry Shop , a place frequented by Empress Sissi , where we'll discover the pastries that delighted the queen.
Matthias Church awaits us nearby, surprising us with its unique features, before ending our walk at Fisherman's Bastion , one of the city's most popular and beautiful viewpoints, from which you can capture a picture-perfect postcard. Are you going to miss it? Reserve your spot now!
Due to ongoing construction work around Buda Castle, part of the route to the palace is via conventional stairs. Please keep this in mind if you have limited mobility before making your reservation. If you have any questions, please contact us.
