Free Tour through the Jewish Quarter of León, the best kept secret
My name is Raúl, I have a degree in Art History, with a master's degree in "Art, Museums and Historical Heritage Management". I have been an official tourist guide for over 6 years. I have worked as a guide in different cities such as Granada, Seville, Florence, Malaga, Merida, Cáceres, Trujillo and, for 3 years, in Palencia, León and Astorga. The fact of being able to work as a guide in these cities offers me the possibility of knowing them a little better day after day, since in this work, the training must be continued to offer a service with the highest possible quality. Committed to tourist quality, since I am one of the few guides in León who can boast having the "Tourist Quality Commitment" Seal. Come and discover Leon and Astorga with me, surely you have a great time.
Tour description
If you are one of those who like history and want a tour that goes beyond the typical , this is your right visit.
Get to know the Jewish quarter of León, which was one of the most important in the entire northwest.
On our tour you will learn about the spaces that the city's Jewish community occupied , its moment of splendor and its subsequent decline.
We will start with the Plaza de la Catedral where you will understand how Jewish history is linked here with the birth of the Kingdom of León. We will gradually enter the Barrio Húmedo and the Barrio del Mercado. We will accompany you through the medieval walls and Calle de la Rúa.
It is true that there are no visible remains of the Jewish aljama , but there is a lot of history , and this is what our tour is about!
Book with me, my colleagues and I were pioneers in León designing this route and also the Red de Juderías granted us the first "Guías Rasgo" cards in the city.
