Hello! Would you like to get to know the history of Bergen, discover some picturesque corners off the beaten path and explain curiosities about the Norwegian culture and its daily life? Well, I'm your guide! I have been living in Norway for 12 years and in Bergen for 3 years, always working as a tour guide, for a guide company and and also on my own. I love explaining the history that was forged in the streets of what was once the capital of Norway and one of the main port cities in northern Europe. The North Sea has marked the history of this city of cobbled streets and wooden houses and the fishing and mercantile past is still reflected in any the corners of Bergen. I love transmitting my passion and enthusiasm to curious visitors, who travel with the desire to learn and ask questions, with an open mind and with the hope of having a good time creating memories. If you think I fit in for your visit in Bergen, don't hesitate, ask me whatever you want and we'll look for a moment to meet!

Tour description

Do you want to know the essentials of Bergen with a short tour?

Come with me on this 1,5-hour tour and discover the main downtown highlights within a short walking distance.
We will start the tour visiting Bryggen, the Hanseatic wharf, with its iconic wooden alleys and tilted houses, and we will discover the trading history that was crafted here, making Bergen a key neuralgic point in European trading during the Middle Ages.

We will continue the tour roaming along the narrow and crooked streets of the quaint quarter of Fjellsiden. A couple of steep roads and some stairs will bring us up to a beautiful lookout over the city center, where we will enjoy the shining tile roofs of the houses that are a trademark of the city.

Going back down to the city center we will go to the central square of Festplassen, with its big artificial lake and the impassible swans and ducks swaying in its cold water throughout the whole year.

Before we end, we will visit the Theater of Bergen or, as its Norwegian name indicates, Den Nationale Scene, the National Stage that served as a platform for rebuilding national identity after the dissolution of the Union with Denmark.

We will finish our tour in the commercial square in the well-known Fish Market, where we will see a big variety of delicacies of the North Sea and, of course, the famous stockfish.
