I am a local Shanghainese, staying with my hometown for 30 years. My overriding impression of Shanghai is the Dramatic Life Changes since the reform& opening-up. I am always curious about how Shanghai be the Shanghai like today. So i started my research these years,visiting other big cities to find the similarity, like Tokyo/Paris/Copenhagen/Sydney/Vancouver, searching the Shanghai’s history recorded in literature by the authors from all over the world, chating with the old generations in family for past memory. If you have dozens of question of Shanghai , I’m willing to answer the call!
Shanghai is known as one of the world's biggest metropolis. But it’s way more than a modern, fast-growing big city. You can feel Shanghai in other big cities, But there’s something special which makes Shanghai to be today’s Shanghai.
I was born in the 90s, the period Shanghai was undergoing big changes when China started reformed and opening ups. I grew up in the 21st century and I witness the fast transformation of the city. I lived through the changes for the past 30 years. I’d like to tell you more about Shanghai in eyes of a local citizen.
