I was engaged in tourism for more than 10 years. For me, it is also the way to know people and make my knowledge wider. I am interested in history, architecture, art and cuisine. I like to share my beloved places with people, to show them another point of view. It will be my pleasure to meet you, be my guest!
I will tell you the legends of Barcelona, show highlights of the old city, introduce you to the most important figures of Catalonia, draw your attention to gastronomic places.
We will go by La Rambla - the main street of Barcelona.
Enter the Gothic neighborhood with the sweetest street in the city - Petritxol, a gallery where Salvador Dali made his exhibition.
We'll know the legends of the church Santa Maria del Pi. Then turn to the Jewish quarter with the ancient synagogue. We'll remember the sad moments of Plaça de Sant Felip Neri. We'll get acquainted with the main cathedral of Barcelona and enjoy the history of the many other hidden places.
You'll find us just outside Hard Rock Cafe on Plaza Cataluña, with an umbrella (British flag print)
This is the main cathedral of Barcelona. It's a place of worship for more than thousand years. First, Visigoths built a church here, than franks organized a chapel Santa Lucía (now it's a part of the cathedral) and in fifteenth century citizens constructed a cathedral.
It's a political center of the city. From one side you can see a City Hall, from another - local Parlament. Both of the buildings are palaces of the fifteenth century, but they were rebuilt for many times, so they look like from nineteenth century.
Rambla (translates like riverbed) is the main street of the city. It consists of several boulevards: Rambla Canaletes, Rambla of Studies, Rambla of Flowers, Rambla Capuchins and Rambla St.Monica. Rambla Canaletes is located next to Plaza Cataluña.
A place on the former border of the city. It originated a little over a hundred years ago. This is the bourgeois center of the city. The area was formed after the walls were demolished.
Plaza was designed by the architect Francesc Molina. Before this territory was occupied by Capuchin monastery. The plaza is so called in honor of the king Fernando Católico. The construction began in 1850.
