Civil War Free Walking Tours in Barcelona

We began with only limited knowledge of the Spanish Civil War, learnt from limited reading of English novels on the subject. Our Guide took us back to the beginning and set this in the context of the current political situation in Spain and in the home counties of the he present. All this was in a light and accessible manner as we strolled gently round the sights.

I cannot remember who was my guide but it was a really nice Greek man. It really surpassed my expectations! I was initially hesitant because I had never gone on a walking tour but my girlfriend insisted and I do not regret it! It was sort of a walking lecture but he managed to tell the story in an incredibly.engaging matter. Everything linked together well and we walked away with a better understanding of the history.

Filipa was wonderful. She was very engaging, the tour was incredibly informative and accessible. Filipa made the complexity of the Spanish civil war understandable and detailed.

You get a lot of information (probably too much), also from different periods in history, so it`s easy to get confused. Not just a story of the civil war - of which sometimes you get a feeling that it didn`t affect Barcelona as much as other places... A bit confusing. You don`t really get to see places with a civil war background - like refugi 307 or similar.

Miguel is very passionate and knowledgeable about the topic. We followed an interesting route where he could bring it to life. He was excellent about answering questions and explaining background information that I did not know. If you are looking for an indepth dive into the revolution and anarchism in Barcelona this is an incredibly interesting and well done tour.

Excellent walking tour with Onno! He's a great story teller and the level of detail was perfect for someone who wants to understand more about this particular episode in the country's history. Highly recommended!

El tour con Miguel fue muy interesante y emocionante al mismo tiempo, porque a través de los monumentos de la ciudad logramos adentrarnos en el contexto social de la época medieval, pero también de los siglos XIX y XX, descubriendo una parte importante de la historia feminista, socialista y anarquista. Es un tour que definiría como anticonvencional, ya que te permite descubrir aspectos de la ciudad que como turista normalmente no logras captar. Por eso lo recomiendo totalmente si quieres ver Barcelona desde otra perspectiva.

I have been on a fair few tours, but Miguel's is hands down the best! Through the unique lens of anarchism, Miguel told a comprehensive history of Barcelona (accompanied through an engaging regale of its story, pictures and insightful answers to my various questions!). The passion Miguel had for Barcelona's anarchist history kept me engaged from start to finish, so much so when I went to Museum of the History of Catalonia the next day I was already familiar with at least more than half of the info decks! The easiest 5 stars I've given. Keep up the good work, Miguel :)

Miguel is very passionate and extremely knowledgeable about his subject, we went to places we didn’t know, his tour was over 2 hours and he has a nice deme out. We enjoyed it

Chrissa is very informative and very invested in the tour. She had some great stories about the war that really added to the overall experience. She also provided many pictures and maps to help explain things.

Very informative, thought provoking and well told. Guide is super knowledgable but can seem like he’s in a bad mood, maybe it’s just the heavy subject but feels like he doesn’t like giving this tour.

Chrisa is incredibly passionate about history, and she explained everything in such a clear and structured way that you quickly gain a solid grasp of that period. The tour was both informative and fun, I enjoyed it so much. Chrisa also mentioned that she does oral history work as well, which I find truly meaningful - remember, not forget.

The tour was well rounded and packed full of information and detail. It gives an important insight into how the city developed and what influences it to this day. Also we are a very curious group and Miguel was very accommodating, patient and answered every question. Time flu by, thanks Miguel!
