Barcelona Food Tour

Awesome way to get acquainted with Barcelona and Catalunya. Boris is knowledgeable and very generous in sharing history and fun facts. The tour is definitely tasty and entertaining but you get much more than food. You meet history, culture and character.

If you want a simple intimate tour to experience the market from a local and try to cook some traditional food. This is your tour.

If you want something a little different than the usual walking tours, try Hana’s food focused tour. You meet at the famous Mercator de la Boqueria and she introduces you to local cuisine but she also takes you off the beaten path to see a food market that the locals go to. Not only a lot less crowded but cheaper prices too! The highlight is Hana invites you back to her house and the tour transforms into a cooking class. It’s three simple recipes which one can easily make back home. You end up sharing a meal with her and the other guests in an intimate setting drinking a glass of cava. Doesn’t get better! To top it all off, you end the tour with a visit to a local chocolate store for some churros!

I don't know if it was my too high expectations or me not being the exact target audience, but I was a little let down by the tour. My only other comparison is a free food tour I did in Sofia, where I learnt a lot about the Bulgarian history, culture, agricultural progress, food and rural traditions, constantly moving from one place to the next. When looking for a tour, I make sure to read reviews, and the more history, explanations, the longer it is, the better it is. So having the last 40 minutes of the tour (and not post tour) in a restaurant was not what I was expecting. I will say that after travelling for 2 weeks in Portugal and Spain, and coming to Spain every year, there is little of the main dishes that I haven't tried, and having leftovers back at my accomodation, I didn't order anything. In the end, I was expecting more than a couple sentences about the neighbourhoods, foods and drinks.

We had a wonderful tour with Riccardo - he is a great guide - very enthusiastic and friendly, we had loads of fun exploring Barcelona with him. He took us to some unique spots in the city and we got to taste food and drink we’d never tried before. Plus we tried one of his recommendations for dinner which was also excellent. Thank you! This tour is the best I have ever participated to, mixing cultural and gastronomical aspects of Barcelona has been wonderful. Riccardo is the best guru you can ask for, he is passionate, prepared and extremely nice and available to give you tips about best bars and restaurants around the city. Totally recommended!

Hana was extremely welcoming and professional — talking us through the food markets! She was incredibly generous and thoughtful in providing ingredients to try / cook with, such as fuet, cava, peppers, eggs, and potatoes. As a solo traveler, Hana made me feel safe. I would recommend this to everyone with a passion for food. FYI: The walk can be a bit long, but is well worth it to visit the sites. I recommend wearing comfortable shoes.

Die Tour mit Hana war ein tolle Erlebnis! Obwohl die Märkte wegen eines Feiertags geschlossen waren und ich die einzige Teilnehmerin war, hat Hana flexibel reagiert und wir haben das beste aus der Situation gemacht: Ich bekam eine Tour mit einem sehr persönlichen Touch. In ihrer gemütlichen Küche bereitete sie mit viel Herz traditionelle Tapas und ein fantastisches spanisches Omelette zu. Die Begegnung war herzlich, der Austausch anregend, und das Essen köstlich. Eine schöne, unvergessliche Erfahrung. Vielen Dank!

This is a lovely way to meet a local & have a bit to eat made in her kitchen. It’s only a small group which makes it feel special.
