Hello everyone. I am Tony. I have been a licensed Kuala Lumpur City tour guide for the past 10 years since I retired as a High School teacher and I am accredited by the Ministry of Tourism Malaysia. I love to travel and have had the privilege of travelling and experiencing many other countries and cultures. I love sharing my knowledge of Kuala Lumpur (KL) with everyone, locals and foreigners alike. Though KL is the capital of an independent country since 1957, she has known 446 years of colonial rule by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British since 1511 and those experiences has influenced a greater part of our history. A melting pot of Asia, KL has been labelled as a City of Contrasts and Diversity. I hope to share with you our rich Country, Culture, Cuisine and more! As oft said, to know KL is to love KL. Join me to know KL - my city for the last 40 years. Selamat Datang (Welcome in our local language).
After seeing the Glimmering and Shimmering towers of Kuala Lumpur, do you still have time to see the Other Side of Kuala Lumpur?
There is still an Old Village that exists side-by-side with modern-day KL and this Tour will take you into the Village. Interested??
A place that I go to wherever I travel is to find the local market. Here that I get to see what the locals food culture. The market is also a great place to see the local vegetables and fruits.
Finally, you get to visit a place that very very few people have ever visited. You will definitely be surprised.
I welcome all serious walkers.
Do take note that while the Walk is Free, the Guide requires a Service Tip of minimum RM50. Kindly not book the tour if you are not in agreement to this minimum tip.
I will be at the Main Entrance of the Central Market. You will recognise me wearing a baseball cap and wearing a white GuruWalk T-Shirt.
The Pasar Seni (literally the Arts & Crafts Market) is one of the most favourite places to find a souvenir from Malaysia. You can also get some souvenirs customised just for you and of course you get to find Malaysian food as well. However, the Pasar Seni (Central Market) only opens at 10.00am so you can visit the inside of the Market AFTER the walk. Admission is FREE and the facility is also air-conditioned to provide a cool place to escape from the hot and humid weather after our walk.
We shall experience a ride on our subway. An opportunity for you to learn about this mode of transportation and how to get around the city on your own.
This was a Malay Agricultural Settlement set up in 1900. Now more than a 120 years later, the Village finds itself in the MIDDLE of the city and looking very much out of place with the modern city but its residents are living happily in the midst of the swirling city around it. We shall walk about the village and you will get to take many photos highlighting the diversity of architecture and the old Kuala Lumpur. Will the place still be intact in 5 years? Let's take a look
If you live outside of Asia and want to see the food produce of an Asian community, this is the place! The different varieties of fish, vegetable and fruits may astound you. You will also get to taste some seasonal fruits especially those you have never seen before in your life.
This is a surprise visit. I will not say more.
Free tours do not have a set price, instead, each person gives the guru at the end of the tour the amount that he or she considers appropriate (these usually range from €10 to $50 depending on satisfaction with the tour).
