Porto city walk in a small group
Tour description
Are you in Porto and would like to know more about the city and its inhabitants, but you are less interested in historical facts? Then come with us on a walk through the city and learn more about the beautiful Porto, the habits of the people and the attitude to life in Portugal. What is it like to live here as an expat? What is everyday life like for the Portuguese? Where can you find authentic Portuguese food? In which shops can you find the best souvenirs?
I'll show you the most beautiful places, special shops and also a few less touristy spots. Restaurant recommendations, tips for going out and a short language course included.
Visiting in a small group makes the experience more personal and leaves room for individual questions.
We start at the Bolhão market, which has recently reopened and where, in addition to fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and baked goods, you will also find stalls with wine and cheese tastings and you can also look for souvenirs. Then we go to one of the most beautiful squares in Porto, Praça da República. From there you come to Cedofeita, a district that has a lot to offer: restaurants, cafés, bars, antique and photo shops, as well as small boutiques, second-hand shops and art galleries.
The next stop is Praça Carlos Alberto, a charming square where a small market is held on Saturdays. We head towards the river past the main university building. We pass another market hall, also with a small square where you can linger (when the weather is nice, many people like to relax on the lawn with blankets) and where the beautiful stock exchange palace is also located. Finally, we arrive at the Ribeira, Porto's port district, which offers a beautiful view of the Ponte de D. Luís and from where you can quickly get to Gaia, which awaits with proud port wine houses.
