Ottawa’s Quiet Winter Magic
Tour description
Ottawa in winter has a calm beauty that many visitors never see. Beyond the busy downtown, there are peaceful paths, soft snow, winter birds, and moments of stillness that feel almost magical.
Join me, Hawi, a local photographer and birder, for a slow and relaxing winter walk through some of the city’s most beautiful natural spaces.
We begin near the Rideau Canal, where, when it is open, you’ll get to see the world’s longest outdoor skating rink — and enjoy the joyful sight of people skating as we make our way along the snowy path.
Then we wander through quiet trails where chickadees, cardinals, woodpeckers, finches, and many more birds stay active even in the cold. We might be lucky to see some owls. I’ll help you spot birds, listen for calls, and notice the small winter details that are easy to miss on your own.
This walk is gentle, peaceful, and perfect for anyone who wants a break from the noise — whether you’re new to Ottawa or you’ve lived here for years.
Bring warm clothes, your curiosity, and even a camera.
Let’s enjoy the beautiful, quiet side of Ottawa together this winter.
