Tour description

Join a guided tour of Senso-ji Temple, Thunder Gate, and Nakamise Shopping Street in Tokyo's Asakusa. Feel like stepping into Tokyo during the Edo Period with the district's old-world vibe.

Itinerary
1. Starting location: Kaminarimon (10 minutes)

Start at the famous “Thunder Gate,” the grand entrance to Sensō-ji. Learn the meaning behind its giant red lantern and guardian statues—an iconic photo spot to begin the journey.

2. Nakamise Shopping Street (20 minutes)
Wander this vibrant street lined with traditional snack stalls and souvenir shops. Taste classic treats like ningyo-yaki (sweet cakes) and senbei (rice crackers).

3. Sensō-ji Temple (20 minutes)

Explore Tokyo’s oldest temple, founded in the 7th century. Admire its stunning architecture, learn the legends of its guardian deities, and experience omikuji fortune-telling like the locals do.

4. Asakusa Shrine (10 minutes)
Just behind Sensō-ji, step into a quieter spiritual space. Learn the story of the three men who founded the temple and enjoy the serene contrast to the bustling main grounds.

5. Hoppy Street (10 minutes)

Dive into the nostalgic charm of Hoppy Street, known for its friendly izakayas and retro Showa-era vibes. It’s the perfect place to glimpse Tokyo’s local life and culture.

6. 浅草新仲見世商店街 Shin-Nakamise Shopping Street (10 minutes)
A covered arcade filled with shops selling crafts, clothes, and local specialties. It’s a great place to spot unique souvenirs beyond the typical tourist finds.

7. Finish at: Azuma Bridge  (10 minutes)

End your tour with breathtaking views of the Sumida River, the Tokyo Skytree, and the iconic golden Asahi Flame — a perfect spot to capture both ancient and modern Tokyo in one frame.
