Hello, my name is Marco De Simone. I've always worked in the food and wine and tourism sectors. I attended the Ippolito Cavalcanti State Hotel Institute in Naples. I gained experience over the years working in the hotel and naval catering industry. I've had the good fortune of traveling extensively. I lived in the USA, where I studied and learned English and Spanish, which I speak fluently. Tour description
The free walking tour will focus on the historic center of Naples, starting from Piazza del Plebiscito, then moving to the Spanish Quarters. We will stop in front of the famous Pizzeria Brandi, where the Pizza Margherita was born. We will tell the story of the pizza and its recipe, and take photos of the plaque dedicated to the famous pizza chef Raffaele Esposito, the creator of the tricolor pizza.
We'll head into the Spanish Quarters, where we'll have most of the activities and interaction with the locals. We'll have the opportunity to visit "O' Vascio," a typical local street-front house now a cultural association. Here, we'll learn how to make real Neapolitan coffee, taste it, and tell its story. We'll be hosted by a couple, Umberto and Nunziatina, who will tell us about the local cuisine and various traditional Neapolitan recipes, such as the famous Ragù and Genovese, two traditional Neapolitan dishes. They'll share their secrets for preparing these and other famous Neapolitan dishes. They'll make us feel like locals, telling us about the lifestyle of the working-class neighborhood.
Afterwards we will pass through "SPACCANAPOLI" which cuts the historic center in two parts, we will stop at the Pignasecca market, the largest and most famous in the city, where you can taste the real DOP buffalo mozzarella and the famous Neapolitan fried foods, the typical Babà and the Neapolitan Sfogliatella and every type of local food, everything will always be surrounded by traditional culinary recipes with facts, anecdotes and fun legends.
