Tennoji Station Area Walking Tour – Fun Local Experience
This walking tour explores the Tennoji area from a local perspective, focusing on shrines, temples, and places mostly visited by locals rather than typical tourist spots.
Please note that I offer this tour as part of my English conversation practice, and I appreciate your understanding.
※ Meeting Point
The meeting point is the Central Exit of JR Tennoji Station. Please make sure you go to the correct exit.
◎ First, we will visit Horikoshi Shrine, which is said to grant one wish. This small and peaceful shrine is deeply connected to local life and beliefs, yet many visitors overlook it. You will learn why it is so special to the people of Tennoji.
◎ Next, we will walk to Isshinji Temple, known for its mysterious Great Buddha. Its unique background often surprises first-time visitors, and I will explain its history in a simple and easy-to-understand way.
◎ Next, we will visit Shitennoji Temple, one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan, founded by a famous historical figure. Here, you will learn about its importance in Japanese history and culture.
◎ Finally, we’ll walk back to Tennoji Station and wrap up the tour there.
After the tour, for those who are interested, I will introduce a recommended local okonomiyaki restaurant and a popular local snack loved by residents. This is a great chance to experience Osaka’s everyday food culture.
The entire tour is done on foot and takes approximately 90 minutes.
This tour is suitable for first-time visitors as well as travelers who want to discover a deeper, more local side of Osaka.
The tour lasts 1 hour
