I am a dual Swiss/Canadian citizen and a high school teacher with a passion for all the subjects I have taught my students: languages, history, and music. As a new resident of Geneva (as of 2026) with strong family and social ties to the canton, I am enthusiastic about sharing what I have learned in my own research about the history, character, and spirit of this fascinating place. I speak French quite fluently, along with my mother tongue English, and I can also converse in Turkish, which I learned while living in Istanbul in the early 2000s. I hope to convince you on a tour, through an exploration of the forces that have brought change to Geneva over many centuries, that the real Geneva is so much more than its stereotypes.

Tour description

How and why did Geneva change from being one of Europe's most heavily fortified cities to the international city it is today?

Come with me to learn about its fascinating history and culture while exploring many of its most beautiful locations!

We will touch the remnants of massive defensive walls that used to surround the fortified city as we explore how the Protestant Reformation and wars of religion shaped Geneva's history and culture, we'll learn about the city's cultural quirks, we'll visit photogenic sites such as the Jet d'Eau and Cathédral Saint-Jacques, and we'll discover some great places that are justifiably popular with the locals, such as les Bains des Pâquis

Ready to see Geneva differently? Book your tour and let’s explore the city’s past and present together.
