Hello travelers! Welcome to San Jose! My name is Jules. I was born here in Costa Rica and raised in the United States. Experiencing both cultures has deeply broadened my perspectives of the world in a meaningful way.
With more than 15 years of living in Costa Rica, I can truly say I have adopted the “Pura Vida” lifestyle – from excursions deep into the jungle to experiencing the music and food unique to the country. And as an avid reader and cultural buff, it’s been a fascinating journey to learn about the history that surrounds this amazing city. It will be my pleasure to be your guide!
Let me share the stories that can open your eyes to the wonders that are in front of you as we take a journey from the past and see things in the present in a fresh way as we walk through history and its ties to the present – and beyond!
This tour is tips based – so just know your tour is incentivized for the highest quality and enjoyment! The idea is to provide you with more than just a standard walking tour. I was an ESL teacher for many years so I know the value of keeping a group engaged and interested.
Jules gave us a unique and exciting view of Costa Rica, particularly in San Jose. Not only did he show us culturally and historically rich spots, but we also tried new flavors of the city. Jules was fantastic! He worked very hard to find topics and information that interested us. We loved all his quick facts and the extra background history he shared. He was well prepared and very knowledgeable. We could tell he loved Costa Rica and San Jose and wanted to share that with us. He cares about his customers and he provided snacks and a small picnic lunch and even hydration and umbrellas depending on what the weather was at the time. We highly recommend Jules. I really enjoyed the tour with Jules. It was full of fun facts about the capital and architectural highlights: from San Jose's Beverly Hills to the post-independence boom. Jules also introduced me to the diverse fruits native to Costa Rica over a wonderful picnic in the park. All in all, it was a morning packed with surprising information about the capital and was like a tour with an old friend. Very well prepared, executed, and well thought out! I'd be happy to do it again anytime.
Jules went above and beyond to show us the beauty and hidden gems of the historic center of San Jose. Full of interesting facts, funny anecdotes and "pura vida", it also included stops for local food tasting.
