Day trip in High Atlas mountains

Your tour begins with a pick up from you hotel in Marrakech at 9am. You will embark on a journey into the Atlas Mountains. En route you will get to see a vast array of vegetation, mountain streams, coloured rock cliffs, Berber villages and local mountain people.

This trek is for all levels, 60 minute drive by private car from Marrakech to get to the Berber town of Imlil.

Here we shall leave our vehicle and take a welcome glass of mint tea in the village prior to setting out for some 4km excursion. towards the south to the Berber village of Aroumd, passing the hamlets of ait souka, Targa Imoula, up and down the stark slopes, the jagged Western High Atlas peaks of the Toubkal Massif before us - Jbels Aguelzim, Aksouâl and the Adrar Adj watching us all the way.

We shall stop at Aroumd to visit this rather singular village in the Assif Aït Mizane Valley, built seemingly house upon house on a large moraine spur, overlooking ancient irrigated terraced fields of barley, corn and vegetables and always surrounded by almond, apple and walnut trees. We thence carry on for another Half an Hour to get to our lunch wish will be served among a berber familly in the village prior to setting off back down the other side of the valley back to Imlil and the return trip to Marrakech.
