Tour description

Due to the company's longevity, experience, and the know-how of our guides (authentic from La Tierruca), this is the perfect and most complete route to get your first contact with Santander.

Its history, its people, its traditions, and with the orange umbrella guides: OFFICIAL, ACCREDITED, AND 100% CANTABRIAN. They won't take you "to cuchus" but they will teach, entertain, and move you like no other. Get ready, not to know Santander, but to live it as if you were from here.

Welcome to Santander, the so-called "most beautiful bay in the world".
The one with the idyllic landscape, the beaches, the aristocracy of El Sardinero, the illustrious figures, the bank,... but also the one with the seafaring life, the docks, sardine sellers, fishermen, net makers, and raqueros.

A city of many faces and contrasts that has always been and will always be "The Bride of the Sea". Join us in this love and hate story in equal parts between Santander and the sea, capable of overshadowing Romeo and Juliet, as you explore and experience every corner of one of the jewels of the Cantabrian Sea.

  • Our tour will start at the Town Hall Square, right in the city center, where we will whet your appetite to move on to the La Esperanza Market, to contemplate a glimpse of daily life in Santander and the local gastronomy. You'll see the gazuza that comes over you.

  • With your mouth watering and in case you've indulged too much, we'll go to mass. Not literally, but we'll visit the Church of the Annunciation, the Cathedral of Santander and their surroundings, to get to know them in detail. How Santander "married" the sea and what remains of the sound of waves now distant.

  • Every relationship has its moments of crisis. With Alfonso XIII Square as a witness, we'll look for the most dramatic moments of the couple formed by the city and the bay. Moments when they've had some shindigs like the one set up at Cabo Machichaco or that Valentine's Day that ended in the Great Fire of 1941. The sea and its bride love each other, but sometimes they clash.

  • Not everything is drama. The expansion is the result of the best and most beautiful moments of this little couple. We'll drop by the Pereda Gardens, Porticada Square, Pombo Square, or the East Market, some of the scenes of the greatest growth and prosperity in Santander. Iconic places with a handful of illustrious figures as narrators of the story.

  • Surely you want to know more. What better way than to immerse yourself in what the lifelong neighbors say, those from the most traditional neighborhoods. We'll cross the neighborhood of El Arrabal; home to sailors and net makers, the most traditional streets of the city where, if you close your eyes and concentrate, you can still feel the shouts, the salt, the waves, and the hustle and bustle of the boats.

  • In the end, with the good and bad moments, such an intense relationship bears fruit. A walk along the docks of Santander, along Paseo Pereda, will serve as the best snapshot of the city's life by the Cantabrian Sea, its pulse, and to introduce the offspring of Lady Santander: the Raqueros. Those little characters who, among machinas, birles, hurrias, and coles, became an eternal icon.

What? What are those words? A cuchus, gazuza, hurria, cole,...? Don't worry, don't let it become pindio to read this. You'll understand, when you come with us, that the Cantabrians have a peculiar vocabulary and our little words are the most authentic. What better than a local guide, from the ever-present La Tierruca, to put subtitles to this movie and help you understand our way of being😉. No, we don't live sadly under a permanently gray sky and you'll see how something of ours sticks to you.

What do you say, are you up for it? Doesn't all this give you a bit of sincio ? We have a lot to guide you on this route and to have as much fun together as pigs in a mud puddle.

By the way! Bring your furry friends to stretch their legs. We are 100% pet friendly!!
