Hi, I'm Naím. I love to travel and I am a travel blogger. I have a doctorate in economics and studies on the history of Mexico and Sinaloa. I currently receive travelers at home with Couchsurfing and Warmshowers, and I am also a professor at the university. I hope you like the tours and that you learn about the roots and history of Mazatlan. Sometimes it is good to know the beach, but it is also important to know the historical facts of each city to understand its people and its urban structures.
This will be a tour of the historic center of Mazatlan in order to know the roots of our city.
The meeting point for this free walking tour is at the shield of Sinaloa located in Olas Altas and then head towards Cerro del Vigia, where the first settlers of Mazatlan were put together with Cerro de la Neveria in 1531.
We will observe the distance El Mazatlán Lighthouse, we will know its real name. I will tell you stories of pirates who arrived at the port, which is why they later seek to formalize and have a government in Mazatlan as a result of the constant attacks.
I will tell you the anecdotes of the first settlers, until their official foundation in 1792 by the Royal Order in New Spain.
We will continue along the "Belisario Dominguez" street, which was one of the first streets in the city.
Then we will tour around Angela Peralta Theater, why is it called that? Who was Angela peralta ?. Then we will go to Plaza Machado and old houses of Mazatlan.
We will go to the Basilica - Cathedral of Mazatlan to know it inside and know who were the ones who ordered it to be built and in what year.
We will finish and return to Olas Altas to have a beer, watch the sunset and keep talking about history, and end this guruwalk.
