At Freetour Alsace we are a group of guides with degrees in Art History, Geography, Music, Languages and History; with extensive experience in the sector and a common passion: Strasbourg. We work with professionalism, honesty and transparency to show you the best that this imperial city has to offer from a critical point of view, beyond a simple photo. With us you not only have a guide but also a host, a helping hand, someone who can show you this city with the joy it deserves. We are guides of the 21st century, which is why we like to establish a relationship of closeness and trust between travelers and guides. This is achieved by respecting the traveler and for this we believe that having small groups is the most sincere way of transmitting knowledge and sensations so that your trip is filled with experiences and anecdotes to tell when you return home. Our maxim is that you live Strasbourg with the same love that we live it every day.

Tour description

"Welcome to the Christmas Capital of Europe, Strasbourg"

Strasbourg from November 25 to December 31 dresses up to receive more than 2 million tourists thanks to its Christmas Markets.

📍 We will meet in front of Galeries Lafayette in Strasbourg. From this central point we will go to Petite France , where one of the most famous Christmas markets in Strasbourg is located.

In the center of Plaza Kleber we will see a giant Christmas tree around which the different stalls are distributed.

While we go through the most outstanding ones and contemplate the lights and garlands of the fir tree, we will explain the origins of the Christmas markets in Alsace. This French region bordering Germany has a great tradition in this type of market.

The one on Place Kléber, called Christkindelsmärik (Baby Jesus market), is the oldest Christmas market in Europe. It dates back to no less than 1570! In fact, from the end of November to the beginning of January, Strasbourg is considered the capital of Christmas.

During the tour we will explain to you which are the most demanded products, among which you cannot miss the vin chaud or mulled wine and the kugelhopf cake.

We will continue this tour of Strasbourg visiting the Notre-Dame Cathedral flea market. Here we will also show you which are the most popular Christmas toys and decorations. Given Alsace's border location, most of these products represent a fusion of French and German cultures.

Two hours later, we will conclude the tour at the Strasbourg Cathedral flea market. From that moment on, you will be able to visit on your own those stalls that you liked the most.

Join us on this Free Tour and enjoy Alsatian Christmas with us!

Magnífico guía. Muy auténtico en su estilo. Preocupado porque tuviese conocimientos (venía de otro tour y él no sabía qué me habían contando), generaba mucha curiosidad y fue muy entretenido.
