ITINERARY:
Meet the Local guide at the main gate of "Sivananda Ashram, "Ram Jhoola". It is the point that is most accessible by public transport. Get a briefing about the spiritual importance of the holy "Rishikesh" Town and the walk starts right from the suspension bridge. Get thrilled to see the gushing waters of the River "Ganges" flowing below, and admire the fascinating architecture of this suspension bridge.
Ganga Beach: After a stroll along the riverside, soon you will reach the serene and spiritual beach of the Ganges river. Be amazed to see the holy saints called "Sadhus" wandering along the river and searching for spiritual bliss overlooking the temples. Also see a lot of Bulls, Cows which wander along the riverside calmly as if they were also in search of guiding light. Enjoy the cool breeze of gushing river waters.
Ganges Aarti: Soon the preparations are done by the priests to hold the grand ceremony of "Ganga Aarti", and get mesmerized by the holy chants and songs while the prayers are being performed by the holy priests worshiping river Ganges as a mother goddess.
Laxman Jhula and local market: Next point is another suspension bridge "Laxman Jhula", the glittering local market surprise you when you will see the tourists trying to take away the local handicrafts, idols, or other artefacts depicting the holy site of the Rishikesh town.
Holy Ashramas: We now walk back to the "Ram Jhula" area and walk past the holy Ashramas where the guide will give you a briefing on the importance of the Ashramas and their preaching and Yoga expertise.
The walk now ends and you will get dispersed by taking the readily available public transport.
How to Reach?
By Car: The distance from the main city of Rishikesh to "Ram Jhula" is not more than 12.5 km. You can reach the destination within 30 minutes by car.
By Bus: The Laxman Jhula bus stand is the nearest bus stand located at a distance of 1.7 km.
By Train: Rishikesh railway station is the major railway station in the city and is located at a 13-km of distance from the "Ram Jhula".
I will be by the passage going Down to the "Ram Jhula" suspension bridge. The public transport mode like TUK-TUK and Taxis drop you exactly at the spot from where the walk to the "Ram Jhula" bridge starts
