The best Free Tour and the most complete of Tetouan. Discover The Charm Of The Medina And Its Stories
Tour description
Tetouan, also called by the nickname of "La Paloma Blanca" is the most Andalusian city in Morocco. The city of Tetouan has 725,000 inhabitants.
Like other cities and regions of Morocco, Tetouan appears on the scene of the history of the 11th century, founded by Muslims on a pre-existing Berber population. It served as a refuge and rear guard for troops in times of fighting between Castile and Portugal, and in the mid-15th century it was attacked and destroyed.
Between 1483 and 1484 Andalusian refuges began to arrive who rebuilt Tetuán as an Andalusian city, and later it was a shelter for the Jews and the Moors expelled from Spain. Tetuán, an Andalusian city, managed to harmoniously integrate elements of different cultures: Moorish, Jewish and Spanish, and others that coexisted for centuries.
Tetuán is divided into three parts: the most recent part built after Independence, the Ensanche and the
Medina.
