The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela is a stunning example of Romanesque and Gothic architecture. It is believed to have been built in the 9th century, although it has undergone several renovations and expansions over the centuries. The original construction was ordered by King Alfonso II of Asturias and was dedicated to Santiago Apóstol
One of the most notable features of the Santiago de Compostela Cathedral is its famous Puerta de la Gloria, which is a masterpiece of Romanesque sculpture. This stone carved door was created by the sculptor Master Mateo in the 12th century and represents scenes of the Last Judgment and other religious figures.
