Lisbon is a city best discovered on foot, where history, culture, and urban landscape intertwine at every turn. The Essential Lisbon Free Tour is the perfect way to explore the main attractions of the Portuguese capital, accompanied by local guides who will help you understand the city's evolution and character.
The tour begins next to the Monument to the Shoemaker , in Praça dos Restauradores , a key location for understanding Portugal 's independence and the reconstruction of Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake . From here, we will approach the elegant Rossio Station and the striking Church of São Domingos , marked by fires and earthquakes that have defined its unique current appearance.
We'll continue through Praça da Figueira and the Baixa Pombalina , from where you can see São Jorge Castle , before entering Alfama , the oldest neighborhood in the city. There we'll visit the Church of São António and the Sé de Lisboa , the oldest church in the capital.
The tour includes a stop at the Santa Luzia and Portas do Sol viewpoints , veritable balconies overlooking the Tagus River , from which we will see iconic landmarks such as the Church of São Vicente de Fora and the National Pantheon . The route ends at Cais das Colunas. Praça do Comércio , presided over by the Arco da Rua Augusta, completing an ideal experience to discover the essence of Lisbon on foot.
