Tour description
The Inquisition has undoubtedly been one of the darkest episodes in the history of Spain, we are all familiar with the tortures, the secrecy, and the so-called "Black Legend".
But... Do we know the victims? Witches, sodomites, necrophages, sorcerers, healers, heretics, and dissidents—who were these men and women? What were their sins and punishments?
In this visit, we rescue their names and stories from oblivion as we explore the 350 years of the Inquisition in Aragon. With a controversial imposition, this tribunal was established in Zaragoza during the time of the Catholic Monarchs, much to the dismay of the entire society of Zaragoza. In its more than three centuries in this land, it left behind numerous headquarters, prisons (both public and secret), and countless anonymous victims as well as famous ones like the renowned painter from Zaragoza, Goya.
Come and learn about this part of our dark history in an outdoor tour where we will visit the sites that gave rise to some of the most tense and famous moments in Zaragoza.
