Dragon Well Tea Villages & Secret Waterfalls: Hangzhou's Most Scenic Hidden Hike
The tour lasts 5 hours
Available in English
Description
Discover Hangzhou's gems on a 6km hike from Faxi Temple to Nine Creeks. This 5hr moderate trek through spiritual sites, tea fields and natural wonders reveals the city beyond West Lake.
Start at Faxi Temple, renowned for its serene atmosphere and layered architecture. Ascend stone stairs to Shili Langdang Ridge for breathtaking panoramas of endless Longjing tea plantations. Descend to Longjing Village to observe tea processing and sample fresh brews. Continue to Jiuxi (Nine Creeks), walking stone stepping crosses over streams beneath bamboo forests and ancient trees.
The tour itself is free to join—there's no fixed price. It operates on a "pay-what-you-feel" basis. At the end, you simply leave a tip based on how much you enjoyed the experience.
Why Choose This Tour?
Beyond the Postcards: Skip the crowded West Lake shoreline and discover the tea-growing villages and quiet mountain trails locals actually love.
Real Tea Culture: Walk right through working Longjing tea plantations and sample fresh brews at the source.
Guided by a Local: I've called Hangzhou home for 20 years and left a career in tech to share the stories, legends and hidden corners guidebooks miss.
Tips: Wear sturdy shoes, carry water/snacks, start early. North-south direction recommended. Perfect for nature and culture enthusiasts. Tickets for Faxi Temple are not included – 10 CNY.
P.S. — Beyond this walking tour, I'm also available for private day trips (Wuzhen, Nanxun and beyond) with my own car — just ask me about it when we meet!

Before guiding, I spent 15 years as an IT engineer, speaking the logical language of code. But the call of the trails, the whisper of ancient trees, and the stories etched in the stones of this city kept pulling me off the screen. Becoming a guide wasn't a career change — it was a homecoming.
To me, Hangzhou is more than the "paradise on earth" of postcards. It's a living masterpiece where every hill, temple, and tea field has a soul — like perfect software written by nature and history, with West Lake as its interface and the surrounding mountains as its deep codebase.
I've now guided 500+ travelers from 10+ countries, hiked Hangzhou's mountain trails for 15 years, and specialize in 240-hour visa-free transit tours. I lead free tours because the best way to experience Hangzhou is through genuine connection, not a rigid itinerary — the secret spots away from the crowds, local legends you won't find in guidebooks, and the quiet peace of a hidden trail. I even weave classical Chinese poetry into the walk, something international guests rarely get elsewhere.
Join me — let's swap stories and decode the hidden beauty of Hangzhou together, one step at a time.
