Taste Skopje: A Local’s Favorite Bites Free Tour
Tour description
Skopje has a rhythm most visitors miss, hidden in the everyday places where locals gather. I’ll take you to spots no tourist ever plans to see - unless by accident, yet still very central.
This walking food tour includes tastings at three iconic places that have outlived me (and I’m not that young anymore). We’ll meet at the main church, where I’ll share a bit of history before our culinary adventure.
We’ll start with a stroll through a lively farmer’s market, where stalls overflow with fresh produce and the air buzzes with local chatter. Hidden inside is a small bakery where we’ll try what many call the best burek in town. From there, we’ll head into the bohemian quarter, known for its kafanas and laid-back atmosphere that locals love. We’ll stop for traditional kebapchinya grilled over coal, smoky and unforgettable. To finish, we’ll visit the city’s oldest shop for boza and sweets, where recipes have been passed down for generations.
This isn’t a checklist of landmarks, but a taste of Skopje’s daily life, the side that makes you feel like the city let you in on a secret. Come as a tourist, leave as a friend!
P.S. Bring an appetite, you’ll need it!
The treats are on me and usually cost around 5-6 euros per person, just to give you an idea if you’d like to add a little extra to your tip. Of course, it’s completely optional - only if you truly enjoyed the tour!
