On this walking tour, we’ll explore Aveiro through its local culture, traditions, and legends, focusing on stories that are rarely explained in guidebooks. You’ll discover how the city was historically divided between river and inland communities, why locals were known as ceboiletos and cagadeiros, and how the lagoon shaped daily life and social identity.
We’ll walk along the canals, through commercial streets and historic areas, learning about moliceiros, traditional humor and symbolism, the origins of ovos moles, and the influence of religion and cultural exchanges in Portuguese history.
