Essential Free walking tours of Hanoi

A very nice walking around the French quarter to see all the hidden gems! The stories behind the monuments and the Vietnamese culture was very interesting to hear, the guide Tommy was very prepared. He answered all our questions and we were very happy at the end, a perfect way to end our journey here in Vietnam!

Such a great time! Learning and discovering the old quarter with an amazing well informed local. Our guide Anna was the best, she was extremely funny but also very knowledgeable. She even gave us a few pop quiz to make sure we were really learning! And she kept us all safe crossing the crazy streets of Hanoi. Could not recommend more!

Enjoyed our tour with Mint who was very informative and answered all questions while still spending time to connect with everyone individually on the tour. Route could potentially cover more locations for the duration- maybe stopping at a cafe for local coffee and bathroom break, which would allow for some cultural/food insight into the tour

The best tour i had in all Vietnam. Fun, informative, with lots of free talks. Much better than the other I’ve attended in Ho Chi Minh or Hue, which tender to become boring and lacked pace.

The tour with Poppy was really amazing and she helped a lot, she is really cheerful and have a good knowledge about vietnam history, culture and the locals

I can’t recommend the English tour with Anna enough! We absolutely loved it, and that’s mostly thanks to her. She was professional, fun, engaging, and full of interesting insights. We got to explore the Old Quarter in a way that felt authentic and local - not just sightseeing, but really understanding the place. It made a huge difference having someone who clearly knows and “feels” the area :) Our group included people of different ages, and everyone enjoyed it. Even those who weren’t very confident in English felt comfortable and included - Anna made sure of that. Honestly, one of the best walking tours I’ve ever experienced. Highly recommend!

Chris was the best tour guide - we had a great time! Learnt lots of history and culture and it didn’t feel rushed at all. We tried egg coffee (which Chris made for us, in front of us!) and learnt about the cuisine of Vietnam. Chris was a great photographer too! Would 100% recommend😊

Through the hustle and bustle of the Old Quarter we were expertly shepherded by our Guide Tommy in a highly organized and thoughtful manner. Aside from providing information about Hanoi’s culture and history, we got a sense of Tommy as a unique Gen Z individual, growing up in Hanoi and living in this hectic, traditional, and rapidly evolving city. It was very interesting to hear his perspective and I appreciated the personal touch he provided, from photos and videos he pulled up on his phone for additional context, to the stories he told. He was always checking in with our small group of three if we had any questions, gave us thoughtful answers, and also some good recommendations. Thanks Tommy!

Melody truly deserves a five star rating, unfortunately there is no higher option to select!! She is bright, funny and engaging - you couldn't ask for a more awesome guide through the old quarter 🤩. Through out the tour she takes you through various cultural and historic sites, and also gives a brief overview to the overall history of Vietnam that has shaped the national perspective today.
