Tour description

A relaxed afternoon of chatting, learning about local finger foods and tasting delicious authentic tacos. A (very) filling taco lunch with a local friend.

You´ll learn the history of tacos and how tacos are prepared and eaten around Mexico. We will visit up to 5 different taco spots in the central and south neighborhoods. You'll be able to taste 5 to 10 different tacos and many salsas and toppings. It's the most popular breakfast or lunch tacos in the city, the ones we locals often eat. You may try refried beans, cheese, beef machaca, beef and pork birria, chicharron, carnitas, marlin and baja style fish tacos, and shrimp and octopus quesadillas. Plus, drinks and dessert. And lot's of fun. We'll visit street stands and small taco eateries, all of them family businesses. We will also visit a corn tortilla factory!

At every stop, you will learn the menus and prices. We will guide you through the selection process and recommend the most authentic and representative items. And then you take care of your check. The total expense per person for this very filling breakfast or lunch, including drinks and dessert, is the equivalent to between $10 and $15 USD at the very most. Bring your pesos and your apetite!

After our walking and eating session, you will feel more connected to the fabulous local taco scene and you will be more than ready to continue exploring on your own with more knowledge and confidence. I will also show you additional spots that you can visit later on and give you lots of extra info on how to make your vacation more enjoyable.

Enjoy Vallarta by the hand of a proud local.

Memo is a fantastic, thoughtful and engaging guide. He’s passionate about the culture, the businesses he takes you to and the food he suggests you eat. I cannot say enough about him nor give him any higher recommendations. We learned a lot about food and culture! Thank you again, Memo!

This was our second GuruWalk in Puerto Vallarta and it was excellent! Memo has such great energy and had lots of fun stories to tell us about the town of Puerto Vallarta. We went to a great variety of taco spots, all absolutely delicious. We went with some friends who are on the pickier side and they all enjoyed the tour as well. Can't wait to go back!

Best part of the trip! Were exposed to varied types of tacos and how they were made, walking to different parts of the city and mostly from carts. The fish tacos at Marisma were so fresh we went back the next day. A taco at each of the four stops was only about 150 pesos ($10 US) total. Once you are exposed to off the beaten path eating there is no going back.

Have done several food tours and even other taco tours. Memo was great, super informative and even personalized the tour on who was in attendance. Would recommend.

We had a wonderful few hours exploring our guide’s favorite taco haunts. Each stop was unique and it was nice that we were warmly welcomed at each one. The knowledge and passion shared was really inspiring. We can’t wait to return to PV.
