About the Tour

A relaxed afternoon of chatting, learning about local finger foods and tasting delicious authentic tacos. A (very) filling taco lunch with a local friend.

You´ll learn the history of tacos and how tacos are prepared and eaten around Mexico. We will visit up to 5 different taco spots in the central and south neighborhoods. You'll be able to taste 5 to 10 different tacos and many salsas and toppings. It's the most popular breakfast or lunch tacos in the city, the ones we locals often eat. You may try refried beans, cheese, beef machaca, beef and pork birria, chicharron, carnitas, marlin and baja style fish tacos, and shrimp and octopus quesadillas. Plus, drinks and dessert. And lot's of fun. We'll visit street stands and small taco eateries, all of them family businesses. We will also visit a corn tortilla factory!

At every stop, you will learn the menus and prices. We will guide you through the selection process and recommend the most authentic and representative items. And then you take care of your check. The total expense per person for this very filling breakfast or lunch, including drinks and dessert, is the equivalent to between $10 and $15 USD at the very most. Bring your pesos and your apetite!

After our walking and eating session, you will feel more connected to the fabulous local taco scene and you will be more than ready to continue exploring on your own with more knowledge and confidence. I will also show you additional spots that you can visit later on and give you lots of extra info on how to make your vacation more enjoyable.

Enjoy Vallarta by the hand of a proud local.

Memo was a really sympatically and knowledging guide. The tacos were all totally different and amazing!!

I would like to start off by saying that Memo is an incredible host. We actually had to pick up something from an optometrist during the taco tour, and Memo had no issue with us going off course and adding 10 minutes to the tour. On top of that, this tour is actually free! Of course, you tip at the end in good courtesy, but based on both the quality of the tour from Memo and the absolute deliciousness of the food, it honestly should be illegal that the tour is free. All in all, with incredibly delicious food—complete "hole-in-the-wall" places—and Memo's amicability, this tour is a MUST GO if you are in Puerto Vallarta. (Also, don't worry about food poisoning, quality of water, or anything like that—we were completely fine afterwards, and we're from America. Just make sure you don't eat too much salsa :)

If you love authentic tacos (don't we all?), you need to take this tour! You will encounter what locals eat (certain foods are only sold during breakfast and can sell out quickly), and will be expertly guided by Memo, who knows all of the restaurant and stand owners. You will feel like a VIP, living vicariously through Memo's inner circle. He has personally selected every location to give you the very best food that Puerto Vallarta has to offer. He advises on the best menu items and accompanying sauces, so you will leave feeling like an expert. If you want authentic food and a wonderful insider perspective, sign up for this tour and go hungry. You won't regret it!

Memo was fantastic! Started simple and true with bean and cheese taco up to the seafood tacos. We even stopped for ice cream and candy. Excellent tour with lots of information and delicious food along the way. He even answered side questions and made sure we got accurate information. I highly recommend Memo and any of his tours available to you while in Vallarta!
