Tour description
The capital city Kathmandu is mostly known for the architectural and historical environment with beautiful buildings created by the ancient emperors of Nepal. Some of the buildings and monuments are listed under the world heritage sites including Swayambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Square. In this trip our company offers you free walking tour to the worlds famous Stupa “ Swayambhunath Stupa” which is also known as the “Monkey Temple” and the royal palace known as “Kathmandu Durbar Square”. Swayambhunath offers the beautiful lush green sceneries surrounding the temple along with those ancient arts, statues and prayer wheels.
The Stupa resembles special bond between Hindus and Buddhists as we can found temples, Chaityas and staues of Buddhists and Hindu deities in the complex. There is a temple behind the hill top which is dedicated to the goddess “Saraswati”. From the hill top we can see the panoramic views of Kathmandu Valley. Then, we move towards the royal palace, Kathmandu Durbar Square, this offers us the amazing arts and craftsmanship of ancient Newari people from the period of Malla and Shah kings.
This Square is also known as “Hanuman Dhoka Durbar” and we can see a statue of Hanuman at the entrance of Durbar. Hanuman is a monkey devotee of “lord Ram”. Trailokya Mohan Narayan Temple, Taleju Bhawani Temple, Hanuman Statue, Basantapur Temple, Kal Bhairav at Hanuman Dhoka Durbar, Ashok Vinayak, Kakeshwor Temple, Indrapur Temple, Hanuman Dhoka Museum and Courtyard of Kumari Bahal are some of the main places and architectures of Kathmandu Durbar Square. After completing this, we walk through the Thamel street exploring local shops and peoples.
