About the tour

Join our free tour of La Laguna and discover a city of more than 500 years, a UNESCO world heritage site, which was founded when the Crown of Castile conquered the island in 1496. Located just a short tram ride from Santa Cruz is a really beautiful place: overflowing with mystery, romance, desire and intrigue.

La Laguna was the capital of the island until the 19th century, reflecting exquisite architectural wonders in every corner. You will be delighted by its churches and palaces, which show a wide range of extravagant styles, ranging from Gothic, Plateresque, Mudejar, Baroque and Neoclassical.

You will also learn about the rivalry between the nobility and the Church, and you will understand how the latter came to affect the design of the city. Stroll through the typical 17th-century Canarian courtyards, which you will not find anywhere else in the world, and suddenly you will find yourself suspended in time while the warm sea breeze invades you.
