Tour description

Be part of the fulfilling experience in Monserrate, the most touristic place in Bogotá, with its official walking tour. Discover all the places that make this hill a meeting point for both foreigners and the Colombian people by visiting its restaurants, coffee and snack shops, Via Basílica and Via Crucis. Understand the history of the Shrine and the importance of Catholicism to Colombian customs and traditions. Try typical Colombian snacks and dishes. Learn about the native fauna and flora and the two means of transportation to the hill. In an hour and a half, our guide will explain how Monserrate became a pilgrimage site with the construction of its first chapel in 1640 and how, over time, it also became a tourist spot thanks to its extraordinary views of Bogotá's magnanimity and a hiking destination or training zone for those who train. You will also make a wish in the wishing well and learn and discover all the interesting, funny and most often unknown superstitions, sayings and facts about a must-see place in the capital of Colombia. Our guide will take you around nine stops where you will have a very comprehensive view of the hill. Recommendations Monserrate is one of the most touristic places in Bogotá. My partner and I went on the tour. We requested the English tour and our tour guide never translated and of the information so we got absolutely NOTHING from the tour. We didn’t understand anything at all in the hour and a half that she spoke. Idk why I didn’t just walk away but we connected with another walker who also didn’t understand the tour so we kind of did our own thing. Also I gave her a very small tip towards the end that I regretted afterwards because my partner and I were bored and didn’t receive any information whatsoever. In the end of your once the tip was given she said “ohh thank you! I know I didn’t really translate. Did you have any questions”? Which by that time of course we didn’t. I would recommend a different tour!!
