Free tour Legends of the Camino de Santiago
We are a team of young professionals in art history and tourism, passionate about our country and our culture; we want to show and offer visitors all kinds of experiences. We have decided to dedicate ourselves to what we like the most, that is why we have trained as Galicia Official Guides and we offer both guided tours and accompanying guide services in different places in Galicia.
Tour description
The city of Santiago could not be understood without the Camino de Santiago; pilgrims are part of its essence and the spirit of the Camino is felt in its streets. In this tour you will get fully into this already famous route in the Calixtino Codex with the history of all its legends. Stories of miracles, knights, kings and pilgrims. Didn't you know that the story of the famous rooster of Portugal originates from the Camino de Santiago? Did you know that Nicolas Flamel is not just a fictional character? Discover Compostela from your way. From Plaza del Obradoiro we will take a walk to the church of San Francisco, famous for an amazing legend. We will continue the tour going up to the Porta da Pena: one of the entrances to the old city wall. That point will be perfect to meet other interesting legends that link the Camino de Santiago with illustrious pilgrims, kings such as Carlo Magno and even characters from the Harry Potter literary saga ... Our free route through Santiago de Compostela will continue through the streets adjacent to the churches of the Virgen del Carmen and Santa Clara until we enter the bohemian neighborhood of San Pedro. What relationship will it have with the Jacobean Route? We will follow a path full of symbols and legends along the way until we reach one of the most beautiful and unknown viewpoints in the city. Feel like a pilgrim!
