Tour description

Welcome to one of the most anticipated tours every year such as the Vigo CHRISTMAS LIGHTS , and this year, the most famous mayor of Christmas decides to surprise us with more than 11 million lights. On this tour you will see the most spectacular monuments with lights that make the city of Vigo beautiful to welcome you.
To begin with, I'll wait for you at the streetlight on Calle Urzáiz. Our tour will begin there.

As an introduction I will explain the theme of this year in Christmas decoration, and I will explain that we are going to create our own Christmas event , collecting at each stop the necessary elements to prepare our own Christmas celebration, but yes, in the purest Galician style.
The first stop will be at this same point described above. Fogar de Breogán , this is how we Galicians know our land. The Celts were those who left us in our land all the superstitions related to the "mouchos, coruxas, sapos e bruxas ..." as the conxuro says. And it is that they always made offerings to the sun so that it would come out again the next day ... But why? This is closely related to water.
And, of course, at Christmas it was not going to be less , because the Yule is more than present even today. Come to explain what it is.

We already have the origin of the Christmas tradition, we are going to look for our Santa Claus or Galician Santa Claus , who is called O Apalpador. We go to the central street of Príncipe . Here I will explain who he was and is this big giant, with a red beard and a beret, who always carried a pipe in his mouth. He came down from the mountainsides to visit the children on Christmas Eve. And what did he bring with him?

We are going to discover how the Christmas trees came to our houses , and how the Celts, again, had millions of superstitions and Saint Boniface had to come to get rid of all the fear of evergreen trees. Here it will also be explained what each Christmas ornament means and what is the meaning of the colors with which you decorate your house on these special dates.
We already have many things, but we lack THE MUSIC, we go to the Praza de la Constitución to look for it.
Here we will make a double stop, because the first thing I will explain to you is what panxoliñas are, which is a music very similar to Christmas carols but in the purest Galician style. How it evolved and how it is present in our lives today.
And of course, I cannot let you leave, without explaining some curiosity about the city of Vigo . Do you know that we know it as the olive city? Well, this is due to a tree, the olive tree, specifically. I will explain to you how it was founded and what oath we Vigo took to take care of our beloved olive tree.
We are going to look for more music, at Calle Policarpo Sanz, here we will talk about the rondallas and of course, SS.MM. The three wise men. How is the Three Kings parade in Vigo? What is it like to enjoy this street pass with the spectacular lights of Abel Caballero? You just have to close your eyes and imagine it.

We are already finishing, and we are missing the most important thing, THE FOOD , we went to the Plaza de Compostela, next to the Market Cíes, to explain that they ate dinner on the designated nights of Christmas and how it evolved to the famous seafood that appears in our table, as well as the most typical desserts, so that when you finish this route you can enjoy them and leave having eaten at least A LOT of Galician food, and if we are known for something, it is for our good to eat.
Once this tour is finished, I will stay for a while answering your questions, and pointing out where you can see more lights and a spectacular place to see the lights from the top and leave with a perfect picture.
