Walking tour in the historical centre of Coimbra

This tour of Coimbra will allow you to explore several places and monuments of the historical centre in a few hours, and is a perfect introduction to the history and traditions of the city.

Coimbra has a long history, from the roman times of Aeminium, Muslim and Medieval periods, Renaissance and the definitive installation of the University, to the student traditions and the scientific importance of the University in the Portuguese-speaking world. Most of this long-gone history is still visible in the stones and alleys of the city, if one knows where to look. I'll be here to explore the city with you.

The proposed tour is a 2h45m walk (3,5km) in and around the historical centre. Covering the most important sites, the walk explores the streets and alleys from downtown next to the river, the medieval city and University at the top of the hill. The tour then also explores the Nature of the city by visiting the beautiful Botanical Garden.
